I'm pretty sure that by the end of all this I'll have had my blood tested more than I had the entire rest of my life combined. The upside is you find out if something is wrong much faster, the downside is you find out if something is wrong much faster.
Last week I got a test done before heading out of town for a trip but didn't get to connect with my doctor about it until today. Long story short is my creatinine levels were elevated which isn't great when you only have one kidney. I don't think it's so dire that it will immediately cause problems as I do plan on altering my diet more to see if it comes down, but hearing it does make you think more about what happens if it doesn't and what that could mean.
You also think about what life will be like with a much stricter diet to make sure I do stick around longer, like hat favorite foods you have to say goodbye to. For example, I'd already assumed I wouldn't be able to have ramen again. Is pizza next?
Don't get me wrong, in the long run I'll be glad I did but in the short term it's still a bummer. Especially cause I can't have sushi until chemo is done (no raw fish).
Wish me luck.
